The gently rounded shape was actually created by tracing the lines of an egg. Takahashi Kogei's Cara cups have a beautiful appearance, with natural shapes gently added by artisans.
Every time you touch the smooth, soft wood surface, your heart will relax. The unique charm of wood is that it is light, easy to handle, and does not break easily. It is gentle on the mouth, and it mellows out the flavor of tea and coffee. It is wonderful not only for drinks, but also for small side dishes and desserts. It is a free and reliable vessel that gently fits into your daily life.
Smooth and gentle wooden vessels
Cara cups are made from Hokkaido-grown shinako wood and carefully turned one by one on a potter's wheel. The name "Cara" comes from the egg shell. The shape was created by tracing an egg, and features a natural roundness that fits comfortably in your hand. It is a shape that you will never tire of and will want to use for a long time.
The material, shina wood, has a beautiful, smooth, white wood grain. When you touch it with your fingertips, it has a smooth texture that makes you want to roll it in your hand. It has a low thermal conductivity, so even if you put a hot drink in it, the heat is transferred to your hand and it is extremely easy to hold. It is light and hard to break, so it can be used safely as a vessel for small children. The surface is coated with polyurethane paint for tableware, which is also used for school lunch dishes, so it is easy to clean.
Cara cups come in two sizes, S and M. They can be used not only for drinks, but also as small bowls for soups, yogurt, small side dishes and desserts. Thanks to the wide, stable base, they do not shake even when poured generously, making them highly practical. For example, it is nice to have a pair of cups, S and M, that a couple can use separately. The time spent slowly drinking tea from a wooden cup is mysteriously relaxing. Why not take advantage of the long-lasting properties of the tableware and spend a relaxing time enjoying conversation?
