A yoryu fabric that sways coolly. A cotton crepe shirt to reach for in the season when humidity starts to bother you.

Japan's summers are hot and humid, and many of us dread that clammy feeling of clothes clinging to the skin from sweat and moisture. For this season, we'd like to recommend our new "Cotton Crepe Shirt." We designed it not only to feel comfortable to wear, but also to give off a cool, refreshing impression to those who see it. The result is a shirt that lets you stay cool and comfortable while still enjoying your style.

The secret to comfort: "yoryu fabric"

What does it really mean to "feel comfortable"? It might help to picture spring or autumn, the seasons said to be easiest to get through. You're not worn down by high humidity, yet you don't sweat, and you're not cold either. Wouldn't it be wonderful if clothing could bring about that "just right," pleasant feeling?

PINK BEIGE, model's height: 162cm

The cotton crepe shirt we've planned this time uses a fabric called yoryu (Japanese crepe), made by using strongly twisted weft yarns to create a fine "shibo" texture along the warp direction. The "crepe" in the product name refers to this yoryu fabric. The characteristic surface texture of yoryu fabric reduces the area of contact with the skin, so it doesn't cling to you and lets air pass through comfortably. This is what makes the shirt feel "cool and comfortable."

We chose a dry-touch, lightweight fabric to make the shirt feel even cooler and more refreshing. Since it's cotton-based, it has a crisp texture with a hint of softness, and because yoryu fabric stretches well in the crosswise direction, it never feels tight and is comfortable to wear. The garment is washed once after being sewn so that it's easier to launder at home, meaning you can wash it every day without worry.

Comment from a staff member who tried it on: Thanks to the textured surface, the fabric doesn't cling to your skin and feels wonderfully smooth. The silhouette drapes nicely too, so it works well both tucked in and worn loose. The ruffled detail around the neckline didn't bother me at all, probably because the fabric is so thin—it felt like wearing a soft, comfortable stole against my skin. I think this shirt will really come in handy for the season ahead when you want a light, airy look, and each of the three colors has its own distinct charm. It's an extremely comfortable shirt to wear.

Since it has French sleeves and is thin, it's also easy to layer, making it a great choice for the transitional season when you adjust with layers.

The mellow (rolled-edge) finish that lends an elegant charm

The neckline, which serves as a design highlight

The fabric edges use stretchy woolly yarn and are finished with a mellow (rolled-edge) treatment, giving the shirt a charming look. For the collar attachment, we deliberately let the seam allowance show on the outside and finished it with the mellow treatment, turning it into a design point. It has just a touch of sweetness, and since the refreshing fabric keeps that sweetness nicely in check, we think even those who don't usually go for this kind of design will find it easy to wear.

PINK BEIGE leans more girly, NAVY feels chic, and OFF WHITE gives a clean, fresh style. Pairing it with a skirt works nicely, but it also looks lovely with mannish pants or denim.

Just as thoughtfully designed from behind

Seen from the front, it gives a neat, pretty impression, but the back has its own careful details too. The back panel is made of two layers with a deep overlap, creating a comfortably relaxed, effortless look.

Because the overlap is so deep, there's no need to worry about your inner layers showing through.

The length is slightly longer than usual, so there's no pulling or strain on the back panel even when you bend forward, and it covers well down to the hips. Since the fabric is thin and there's enough length, it's easy to tuck into bottoms, and it pairs well with both pants and skirts. Worn loose and untucked, the mellow-finished hem adds to its charming look, while tucking it in tones down the sweetness—so you can enjoy different styles depending on your taste.

What about sheerness? How to choose your inner layer

Since it's a thin fabric, it isn't completely opaque, but with PINK BEIGE and NAVY, you can wear it without worrying too much about what's underneath. Of the three colors, OFF WHITE is the most sheer. In this photo, the model is wearing a gray inner layer.

This is the level of sheerness with a pale gray tank top underneath.

We recommend wearing an inner layer close to your skin tone, but you could also pair it with a dark-colored camisole for a subtle hint of sheerness. Enjoy experimenting with different inner layer combinations to suit your taste.

The rainy season has arrived in the Kanto region, and humidity is becoming more and more noticeable by the day. We hope this shirt can help you feel a little more comfortable while still enjoying your personal style.
