This roomwear started from something one of our planning staff noticed. With so much time still spent at home, it can be surprisingly hard to find roomwear that's both nice-looking and just right for spending a daytime holiday at home.

Pajamas feel too sloppy, but going-out clothes don't let you fully relax either. With family or housemates around, or the occasional delivery at the door, you want to avoid something that's too loose. That's why ZUTTO newly planned this roomwear, made up of a top, an inner layer, and pants—each piece carefully considered with its own solid role, coming together as one.

Cotton Linen Roomwear with Built-in Cup

Based on our staff's idea, we selected the fabric and went through numerous prototypes to create this original roomwear. With a body width that's neither too narrow nor too wide, it won't restrict your movement during housework, and lets you relax fully at bedtime too. Here we'll introduce this new release, packed with attention to detail, while covering the key points.

Not just "with a built-in cup"—an inner layer too.

Roomwear with a built-in cup is generally camisole-style, with fabric attached to the cup area. But this Cotton Linen Roomwear with Built-in Cup is a tank top that firmly covers you all the way down to your belly.

Made of 100% cotton, it's a tubular-knit tank top with no side seams, so it's recommended for those who care about the comfort of their inner layer. Its excellent stretch lets it fit your body naturally.

Reassuring even for those who worry about feeling cold—it covers firmly down to the waist.

As the season progresses, heat becomes a concern, but many people also worry about getting cold from air conditioning. Since the design firmly covers the belly and waist—areas that tend to get chilled—this really is a complete set-up with just this one piece.

About the Material

The top and pants use fabric carefully processed by a dyeing craftsman in Kibi no Kuni (Okayama Prefecture) using a traditional technique. The distinctive mix of large and small wrinkles comes from hand-kneading the fabric as it's placed into the dye vat. The texture created on the fabric's surface keeps it from clinging to the skin, giving a smooth, pleasant feel that's comfortable to wear even in summer.

To minimize color unevenness, the craftsman hand-untangles the fabric as it dyes, and when finishing the dyed fabric, deliberately avoids over-stretching it in order to preserve its natural texture—careful processing that's only possible through handwork. Fabric born from this traditional method carries not just texture, but a sense of warmth as well.

The fabric used is cotton linen light canvas. Linen has excellent breathability and quick-drying properties, making it a fitting material for Japan's summers, which are difficult to get through due to high humidity as well as high temperatures. It's also a material you can wash without worry. (For washing, we recommend turning it inside out and placing it in a laundry net.)

The Relationship Between Design and Comfort

And because this is a piece meant to be worn daily, we've paid subtle attention to the design as well. The top features a crew neck with just the right amount of openness, with a single tuck at the front body as a design accent. This creates a natural sense of depth, resolving the common issue of simple tops looking flat, while the non-restrictive fit contributes to a feeling of relaxation.

And against the roomy body, the gently rounded hem creates slits on both sides, pulling the whole silhouette together into a well-balanced shape. It's also a nice touch that it doesn't get in the way of movement when doing housework. The pants have elastic at the waist, so you can wear them in a relaxed state. Since the top is on the longer side, it fully hides the elastic waistband.

It comes in two colors: BEIGE and CHARCOAL. We recommend having one of each color for rotating wear while washing, and the sizing works well regardless of body type. We think it would also make a wonderful gift for family members or anyone who's been spending more time at home.
