A dress is always handy on days when you're not sure what to wear, and since it's not too tight, you can relax while wearing it—making it a piece you'll reach for no matter the season. This time, ZUTTO made an easygoing dress using sweatshirt fabric. We've added a touch of something extra to the casual cotton-lined dress, creating a design that adults can enjoy even more. Cinch in the waist for a flattering silhouette, and it's a relaxed dress you can wear even when heading out.

The fabric is 100% cotton with a soft, puffy texture. Knitting it slowly and carefully over time gives it an airy touch the moment you feel it, along with a springy elasticity. Using this pleasant-to-the-touch fabric, we also flattened the seam allowances on the inside with stitching so they won't feel bulky against the skin.

A fleece-lined fabric tends to only get worn in winter, but this dress was made with the wish that it be enjoyed across as long a season as possible, both indoors and out, so we used an unbrushed cotton-lined fabric instead. On chilly early-spring days when you're not sure what to wear, this is a piece you'll find easy to reach for.

Two silhouettes

When choosing a dress, length is one of the most important points. With a below-the-knee length, you often find yourself wondering what bottoms or leggings to layer underneath. This dress, however, has a length of 113.5 cm—falling below the calf on our model, who is 162 cm tall. Because it's long, you don't have to be picky about what you pair it with; it looks stylish whether matched with wide pants or leggings.

Cinching in the waist also lets you adjust the length. Left loose, it drapes naturally for a relaxed feel; tied, it creates a more feminine silhouette. Enjoy switching between the two silhouettes depending on your height or what you're layering it with.

Elastic cuffs make housework easier

We put elastic in the cuffs to gather them in snugly. Since we designed this with wearing it at home in mind, another important point was making sure the sleeves could be rolled up easily and stay in place when using water. It's also designed so you can roll up your sleeves for easier movement once the weather warms up.

We asked a staff member who actually wore the dress what she liked about it.

"When you pick it up, it feels like a fairly substantial fabric, but once you put it on, it doesn't feel heavy at all and you can wear it comfortably. Since you can adjust how you tie the waist to your liking, it seems like it would flatter any body type. The unbrushed cotton-lined fabric feels fresh against the skin, but I didn't feel cold even in winter, and even with a layer underneath, it didn't look bulky and was easy to move in."

The collar is raised slightly, giving the design just enough structure so it doesn't feel too relaxed despite being made of sweatshirt fabric. It looks set to become a piece you'll reach for often from winter through spring.
