Combining Different Materials

One of the key features of the Ventile Gabardine × Waffle Military Skirt is its combination of different materials. The beige sections use Ventile gabardine, a high-performance fabric made from cotton, while the charcoal and khaki sections use waffle fabric.

Ventile gabardine was originally developed as a water-resistant material for British Royal Air Force pilots, and its high functionality is well proven—it has even been used in Japan for Defense Agency sea rescue uniforms. Despite being 100% cotton, it offers excellent water repellency, moisture permeability, and breathability, making it a practical and tough material that can withstand hard use.

Waffle fabric is used in the areas that touch the skin directly. Thanks to its fine textured surface, it doesn't cling to the skin and can be worn comfortably even during hot, sweaty seasons, so you can enjoy it from spring through autumn. It also has just the right amount of stretch, which is why the slim silhouette doesn't feel too restrictive—all thanks to this waffle material.

At first glance, the Ventile Gabardine × Waffle Military Skirt looks like a wrap skirt, but waffle material is used in the areas that touch the skin, with an asymmetrical panel of Ventile gabardine attached over it, covering the hips. To make it flattering on a wide range of body types, the materials switch right at the waist area—the part people are most self-conscious about—helping to conceal the body's shape.

I wear it at waist-height, and the hem falls just below the calves.

The silhouette looks fairly tight at first glance, but once you put them on, there's a bit of ease so they don't feel constricting. The slit on one side is fairly deep, making it easy to move your legs, and comfortable to wear all day. The waist is fully elasticated, but without any tightness—just the right amount of ease. If you're on the slimmer side, we recommend pairing them with a belt of your own.
