As the name suggests, "lightness" is the key point of these bags, but since bellroy always pursues functionality from the user's perspective, the result is a set of excellent bags that combine durability, functionality, and design all at once. The Secret Behind the Lightness

The bags in the LITE series use a ripstop fabric that is one-third the weight of bellroy's conventional fabric. Ripstop fabric is often seen in outdoor gear that requires both lightness and durability, such as camping tents and sleeping bags. True to its name—derived from "stopping" a "rip"—it has high tear resistance and durability. It was originally developed in the United States during World War II to improve the durability of parachutes and military uniforms.

The secret to its strength lies in this diamond pattern. By using thicker thread in the pattern areas than in the rest of the fabric, the strength is increased. Ripstop fabrics commonly seen elsewhere often feature a grid pattern, but bellroy uses a diamond pattern, giving it a sharper impression. Also, "lightweight bags" often tend to look limp when contents are few, but bellroy's ripstop fabric has just the right amount of stiffness, so it keeps its beautiful shape regardless of how much is inside—another point that makes you want to use it as your main bag.

Bellroy's ripstop fabric achieves lighter weight without compromising on strength, and true to bellroy's style, it is made using 100% recycled plastic bottles. Bellroy always carefully selects materials that strike a good balance between functionality, durability, and beautiful aging over time.
