Over the past few years, as more time has been spent at home, the clear line between loungewear and outerwear has faded, and we've come to consciously choose roomwear that can also be worn out for a quick errand—so-called "one-mile wear." Especially in winter, since you'll be wearing an outer layer, the top doesn't matter so much, but if the bottoms feel too relaxed, their use becomes limited. So at ZUTTO, we created easy pants that feel comfortable both at home and outside.

Sweatpants tend to carry a strong impression of loungewear, but this suede-like fabric has an elegant look, so there's no strong sense of discomfort in wearing them outside either. We'd especially recommend this pair to those who worry that sweatpants look too much like loungewear to step outside in. Not just for working from home—even on days you've decided to spend relaxing at home, there are often small errands to run. If something is relaxing to wear yet can also double as one-mile wear, you'll find yourself reaching for it more often. When we thought about the conditions for "pants you can wear both indoors and out," these are the features that came up.

The Stretch Suede Easy Pants we're introducing here satisfy all of these. They have plenty of room so they don't constrict the legs, while the elastic hem keeps the silhouette clean. The shape is casual, but with a subtly glossy, refined look, and the drape created by the pleasant-to-touch fabric gives them a polished impression. Being resistant to pilling is also a welcome point for everyday use.

The fabric (49% acrylic / 43% rayon / 8% polyurethane) already offered excellent stretch and ease of movement, but we designed the pants with extra roominess so you can wear them even more comfortably.

If the rise is too deep, it becomes harder to move, so we adjusted the pattern making (the process of translating a design sketch into a paper pattern) for ease of walking. And the key point is that we made the hem elastic.

This was a design choice made both for ease of walking and to give the silhouette a sense of definition. As a result, the soft, flowing fabric drapes beautifully, giving the pants an even more elegant finish.

"They didn't cling to my legs at all, and had so much ease that they were very comfortable to wear! At 162cm tall, wearing them slightly high-waisted gave me just the right length. Since the waist is adjustable and the hem is elastic, I'd recommend these to people of a wide range of heights.The hem never dragged on the ground, which made walking easy and comfortable. "Because the silhouette is so roomy, the lining barely touches your legs, and the lining itself is smooth, so even those who worry about how fabric feels against their skin can wear these with peace of mind, I think. They were comfortable enough that I'd even consider wearing them as pajamas. My personal favorite is the BEIGE color—the shade is very soft and seems to match the texture perfectly."

The beautiful suede-like fabric is soft and flowing with a pleasant feel against the skin—even our planning staff, who handle all kinds of fabrics daily, give it their strong recommendation for how good it feels. Much of the fabric's ability to look natural as outerwear comes down to this fabric.

"The texture feels so nice that I catch myself touching the surface over and over. The shape is casual, but the material has a luxurious feel, so I think it would also suit more polished styles. So that people can wear these casually anytime, we chose a material that resists pilling and can be hand-washed at home."

Many people probably spend the New Year holidays eating lots of delicious food and relaxing with family and relatives. When several people gather, you often end up sitting on flooring or carpet, and at times like that, pants with stretch are convenient. The wide range of waist adjustment is also reassuring, since it's fine even if your stomach feels a bit fuller than usual.

For a New Year's stroll to the local shrine for hatsumode, these are a great choice too.
