In February, as spring items gradually begin to arrive, we've started selling a new ZUTTO original wear itemthe Fanage Linen Kaftan Blouse.
This loose, pullover-style blouse is roomy enough that your body seems to swim inside it. By layering an inner top underneath, you can wear it starting from this season, incorporating a spring fabric into your wardrobe a little ahead of time. As the season progresses and the weather warms up, adjust with your inner layer and enjoy it through to early summer.
When we actually held it in our hands, our first impression was that this fabric would look great with a well-worn, washed feel. The wrinkles running in various directions have a depth of expression that differs from mass-produced items.
This linen fabric was made through a process that insists on small-batch, handmade production in order to express the rich character natural fibers possess. Without applying mechanical pressure or tension, a great deal of time is spent on scouring (the process of removing impurities from the thread) and dyeing, and the fabric is finished with sun-drying and uneven dyeing to preserve the material's natural character.
The color isn't applied evenly across every part; in some places it appears slightly darker or lighter. This is one of the charms of this blouse, giving it a sense of depth and softness.
1. A relaxed silhouette
When you try it on, it has more room than you'd expect, giving you a relaxed feeling like wearing loungewear. Because of this silhouette, layering comes naturally—you can pair it with a turtleneck now during the cold season, and once spring draws nearer, switch to a lighter inner layer for a cooler look. The overall silhouette falls downward, so it also looks neat and clean when worn on its own.
Height: 162cm
If you're around 160cm tall, you'll likely find it slightly longer than a typical cut-and-sew top. This length makes it easy to balance when paired with slim pants, and thanks to its length, you can also tuck it in for a slightly relaxed, blousy look.
2. A neckline that pairs with anything
The neckline and front opening were points we paid close attention to, adjusting the balance so it's neither too deep nor too closed up.
When layered, it lets your inner top show through, and even worn alone, the chest area isn't too revealing, striking just the right balance. A necklace would also look great with it. Thanks to this neckline, you can enjoy it across various seasons no matter what you layer underneath.
3. A V-shaped slit that's a cute design detail too
A silhouette that flares out toward the cuffs, true to a kaftan blouse. We also added a V-shaped slit at the cuffs.
A slight difference between the front and back hem length. The hem is designed with a rounded curve.
The slit makes it easy to fold back the cuffs, letting you enjoy layering, and on sweaty days you can simply roll them up to stay cool. It's a detail that serves as a design point while also offering practical function.
"It's the time of year when spring clothes catch my eye, so just wearing this made me a little happy. The fabric is fairly thin, and with OFF WHITE, if you wear a darker inner layer underneath, the color shows through faintly.
But that's actually kind of cute—pairing it with a turtleneck in a color you like, or something with a bit of a pattern, completely changes the mood of the blouse, so I think it's a color that lets you enjoy layering."
"BLUE GREY is a yellow-tinted blue reminiscent of the denim you'd want to wear in spring.
This is also a spring-like, warm color. It might suit those who look good in warm colors well. If you prefer a blouse that's less see-through, I'd recommend BLUE GREY!"
For those who love linen with a crisp texture, or who prefer a smooth, breezy feel against the skin, we recommend the Fanage Linen Kaftan Blouse. We'd be delighted if you started wearing it now, as your thoughts turn toward spring.
