A plump texture, with the lightness and warmth you want right now. Talking about ZUTTO's Dambo-ru Knit Pullover

The changing of seasons is a difficult time for choosing clothes. Even as your heart turns toward light, airy spring outfits, the cold makes you weary of the heavy sweaters and coats you still need to wear. This time we're introducing the High-Gauge Dambo-ru Knit Pullover, and the staff members who actually wore it gave it their seal of approval, saying it's genuinely easy to wear! It's a casual item, yet it looks polished. It's light and warm, with a pleasant feel against the skin. The silhouette is relaxed, yet it never looks sloppy. Today we'll be talking about ZUTTO's Dambo-ru Knit Pullover, the perfect choice for this in-between season.

The secret behind its casual yet polished look: high-gauge dambo-ru knit

Let's start with the dambo-ru knit fabric itself. Dambo-ru knit is a fabric that's popular every year at ZUTTO, known for its high ability to hold its shape and its highly stretchy quality, thanks to a special spring-like molecular structure. In other words, it's a fabric that "stretches beautifully and feels comfortable to wear, yet doesn't cling to the body, so you can spend the day feeling very relaxed."

It has a smooth, pleasant texture and a clean impression, but when you actually look at it closely, it's a little different from what's typically called a "functional fabric." I found the charm in how it feels soft and warm despite that clean look. It's a fabric prized across everything from sports gear to high-end fashion, and its resistance to sweat and repeated washing is another welcome point for anyone who wants to wear it often.

This time, we're using the "high-gauge" type of dambo-ru knit fabric. It gives a more refined silhouette, with an even more lustrous and smooth texture. Even though it's a pullover, it doesn't lean too casual—personally, I like pairing it with tucked slacks for just the right amount of casual dressing-down.

This pullover is light, warm, and truly stress-free to wear. When you touch the fabric, it feels plump, and you can sense that the air trapped inside is what makes it so warm.

A relaxed silhouette that never looks sloppy, thanks to a carefully thought-out pattern

What surprised me when I tried it on was the silhouette. Since it's a fabric with body, one wrong move can make the figure look bulky, but I found there was almost no bulky, overstuffed look at all. The shoulders are cut cleanly, while the arms have a bit of volume added through the paneling in the pattern. Here's how it looks from the side.

Despite the generous width, the silhouette from the back is surprisingly clean as well. You can really see this in the worn photos—thanks to the straight line running from shoulder to hip, it looks quite streamlined. I was impressed by how the design achieves a three-dimensional silhouette while still keeping the areas that shouldn't look bulky firmly in check.

Some parts of the design, such as the sleeve seams and the collar attachment, use a technique called "matagi" double-needle stitching. Not only is this durable, but the stitching also serves as an accent, adding a touch of casualness even to this otherwise polished design.

Another key point is the relaxed fit combined with a slightly more compact length, something you couldn't achieve with a unisex sweatshirt.

The cuffs are designed with light, natural gathers

More and more sweatshirts are now offered in unisex sizing, but if you size up to wear it loosely, you inevitably end up with excess length in the body and sleeves. That's unavoidable with a shared men's-and-women's sizing, but the extra fabric can feel cumbersome, and I've often found myself tucking it into bottoms or constantly rolling up the sleeves just to keep the balance right.

This sweatshirt, however, doesn't have quite as much extra length in the body or sleeves compared to other loose-fitting tops. Even those with a shorter stature should be able to wear it with good balance. That said, taller people can rest assured that it works for them too. On me, at 166cm tall, the body length fits just right and the sleeves come right to the wrist, so unless you specifically want an oversized fit, I think the sizing is just right.

Clothes that make you want to go outside

Since it has room to spare, you can layer it over an inner layer for warmth during the colder months. Once it starts to warm up a bit, try wearing it on its own. With its clean impression, it works almost like a plain canvas—it's also lovely to pair with accessories or a scarf.
