When wearing a thin cotton or linen dress, it's hard not to worry. Even if everything looks fine indoors, once you step outside into strong sunlight, your inner layer might show through, or the shape of your legs might cast a shadow that's visible through the fabric—it's never quite reassuring. Wearing leggings to avoid this is too hot for a Japanese summer, and a slick, obviously "inner-wear" looking petticoat can be embarrassing if it happens to show. What's more, since petticoats come with a fixed length, it's a hassle to keep several on hand to match different outfits. This is where these pants come in handy.

The new Yoryu Stripe Petti Pants are a slightly slimmer take on ZUTTO's petti pants. While the original solid-color petti pants were designed with the concept of "easy to match with any outfit," this new pair takes a different approach—choosing a fabric and design that add a touch of nuance even when paired with plain, solid-colored clothing.

With a straight, slightly slim silhouette, they fall somewhere between leggings and ZUTTO's original petti pants in terms of fit. Not too tight, they don't trace the line of your legs, yet they have enough ease to wear straight—just the right balance. Even staff members who felt self-conscious about the shape of their legs tried them on and were pleasantly surprised, saying, "My legs look great!"

A yoryu fabric with a fine crepe texture that makes you want to wear it even on hot days

We chose a yoryu fabric with a fine crepe texture; its slight unevenness also means it's less prone to static cling, so it won't stick to skirts or thin tunics worn over it. The stripe pattern is a delicate design created by layering many fine, thin lines to give the impression of stripes. It combines the natural feel of cotton with a refreshing coolness, making it the perfect petti pants for layered outfits from spring through autumn.

The petti pants let you adjust the waist size with elastic and a drawstring, and the fabric itself has great stretch, so even when layered, they keep a relaxed, comfortable fit. The hem is finished with a mellow (rolled) edge that adds a nice touch to your look, even when paired with heel-less shoes.

With just the right touch of sweetness added, these pants work not only for casual looks but also for more polished, put-together styles.
