ZUTTO's denim easy pants, popular every year, have arrived again this season. Slightly different from full-fledged denim, the 10oz Light Denim Pocket Easy Pants can be worn comfortably and casually all day long. They pair well with a casual look as well as a slightly more polished, shirt-based style, and can be worn year-round regardless of season—making them a pair you'll be glad to have on hand. Based on feedback from longtime wearers, this update adds back pockets, making them even easier to wear on a daily basis.

When it comes to denim pants, many people own at least one pair, drawn in by how easy they are to coordinate and how versatile they are across all seasons. Because that appeal is so strong, we've often had to overlook small drawbacks—like the initial stiffness when first wearing them, or how a slight change in body shape can make them unwearable.

That's why we set out to create something that would let people enjoy the appeal of denim pants even more, asking ourselves, "Is there a way to bring out the best of denim pants to the fullest?" The result is the 10oz Light Denim Pocket Easy Pants.

＜ Design ＞

These full-length wide pants don't cling to the body's lines, and their length is designed so you can roll up the hem to a flattering point depending on your height. Enjoy experimenting with the style—try a single wide fold, or fold the cuff twice for a slimmer look.

To give the pants a casual feel, we used large patch pockets on the front. They also carry a cool, workwear-inspired impression. For the stitching color, we used white on the INDIGO version and gold on the KINARI version, giving the design a look full of careful detail. Thanks to their very light wearing feel, they move easily with your legs, making them a great pair of denim pants to wear on busy walking days or while traveling.

The waist is fully elasticized for effortless wear. We named them "Easy Pants" because the light, soft fabric means you won't feel tired even after wearing them all day. Despite their casual look, the silhouette falls beautifully straight, and they pair nicely with shirts too.

＜ About Denim ＞

The thickness of denim fabric is expressed in oz (ounces), which serves as one guideline when choosing denim.

　Light ounce: under 10oz

　　About as thick as a heavy shirt, with a light, soft wearing feel. Gives off a casual, relaxed impression.

　Heavy ounce: 15oz and above

　　A thickness that feels substantial even among denim fabrics. You can enjoy bold, distinctive fading (ATARI).

This time, we chose 10oz denim fabric—the lightest weight within the regular ounce range typically used for denim, and the most comfortable for long hours of wear. Its lightness is surprising when you pick it up, expecting the heft of denim. We also focused on ease of care in choosing the material, using fabric treated with Sanforized processing.

Sanforized processing is a technology developed in the 1920s, devised as a shrink-resistant treatment to solve the problem of denim shrinkage. Because denim is heavily stretched during the production process, it would naturally shrink each time it came into contact with water. Sanforized processing addresses this by deliberately forcing the fabric to shrink before it's sewn, so that once the finished product is washed and dried, it shrinks far less than it otherwise would. Before Sanforized processing existed, shrinkage was simply assumed, which is why zippers were rarely used on the front—buttons were the standard closure instead.

These days, it's something few people think about, but when Sanforized processing was first introduced, fabric labeled "SANFORIZED" was considered cutting-edge and sought after for that reason.

For this pair of pants, we took that Sanforized denim a step further with a one-wash treatment, giving it a soft feel right from the very first wear. What does this change bring to denim pants? Simply put, it makes them easier to wear every single day.

Because the fabric is soft, it doesn't just conform to your body right away—that softness also pairs perfectly with the elastic waistband. Sitting down or crouching won't make the waist feel tight or uncomfortable, eliminating those small everyday frustrations that denim has long been known for.

The fact that you can casually reach for it every day, even with a simple, unpretentious outfit, is thanks to this effortless ease. KINARI is a bright color, but it doesn't show through easily even worn alone, making it useful in both spring and autumn.

＜ Staff Review ＞

I wore these all day, and I loved how the soft fabric kept me from feeling tired even after wearing them for so long. Since the fabric is thin, it doesn't bunch up even when you sit with your feet up on the sofa, so you could put them on well before heading out, or keep wearing them at home after you get back. They look properly stylish, but the elastic waist also makes them comfortable when sitting down, which is nice. I'm 159cm tall and found the length on the long side, so I wore them cuffed. If you wear them full length with heeled shoes, they can also have a leg-lengthening effect.
