Start your autumn styling with an expressive corduroy dress.

Corduroy is a staple fabric for autumn and winter fashion. Materials associated with the colder months often contain wool, which can be hard to work into your wardrobe while some lingering summer heat remains in early autumn. Corduroy, on the other hand, is 100% cotton, so you can enjoy autumn style without waiting for the temperature to drop.

Every year, ZUTTO makes corduroy pieces, and this year we're introducing a shirt dress. By choosing a deep, rich color, it gives off a quality feel reminiscent of velour, and this single piece completes a seasonal look all on its own.

A shirt dress you can wear as a light outer layer or over a knit

CHARCOAL

The great thing about a shirt dress is the versatility it offers—you can wear it alone or layer it like a light jacket, giving you a wide range of styling options. In early autumn, wear it over a T-shirt; as it gets colder, layer it over a warm base layer; and once the cold really sets in, put a knit on top of the dress. You'll be able to use it in many different ways throughout autumn and winter.

Let's take a look at three design highlights of the new Ultra Venus Corduroy Shirt Dress, our latest addition.

1. Deep slits at both side hems add ease of movement and a touch of relaxed femininity. Even with a long length, the dress won't feel cumbersome, letting you wear it with a light, easy step.

2. A hanger loop has been added to the back yoke, with gathers below it. This adds a touch of softness to a shirt that might otherwise look too mannish, resulting in a lovely back view as well.

3. The collar is a slightly relaxed band collar. It sits nicely even when paired with high-neck inner layers like turtlenecks, expanding your options for what to wear underneath.

A supple, lightweight fine-wale corduroy

BORDEAUX

Corduroy fabric traps air within its surface ridges, giving it excellent warmth-retaining properties. While corduroy is naturally a soft fabric to begin with, a special washer processing called Ultra Venus finishing (a washing process involving washing, spin-drying, and drying) gives it an even softer hand feel and a natural texture.

For this shirt dress, we chose a supple, lightweight fine-wale corduroy. Compared to a thicker wale, it gives a more refined impression, and its charm lies in a distinctive, velour-like sheen that shifts in color depending on the viewing angle and lighting.
