Information

The weather has warmed up considerably, and more days now call for no outerwear at all during the daytime. As mid-April approaches and spring settles in fully, lightweight dresses are on our minds. Our newly arrived Belgian Linen Layered Sleeveless Dress is a highly versatile piece that can change its mood entirely depending on the inner layer and bottoms you pair it with.
A dress made of 100% linen with a rich, textured feel. The distinctive hemline is another key feature.
Belgian Linen Layered Sleeveless Dress
The Belgian linen fabric used this time has been treated with a natural dyeing process known as "natural dyed." Unlike ordinary dyeing methods, this technique involves artisans dyeing small batches at a time in small kettles.
▲Layer a petticoat underneath and you can wear it on its own.
This is a special fabric made using traditional dyeing techniques once used to dye tenugui (Japanese hand towels) and furoshiki (wrapping cloths). The texture is on the thinner side, giving it a crisp, cool feel when worn. It can be worn comfortably even during the humid rainy season.
And on the surface, you'll see the rustic wrinkles so characteristic of linen. The fine creases that naturally form when worn give the fabric a linen texture reminiscent of a piece that has been cherished and used for a long time.
The design has been kept as simple as possible so it pairs easily with any kind of clothing.
It's also designed so it can be worn as a sleeveless dress on its own.
The armholes have been adjusted to a balance that avoids being too open, while still not feeling restrictive. Elastic is inserted under the arms as a design accent. With a hem that's slightly longer in back than in front, the A-line silhouette flares beautifully toward the hem, spreading naturally with each movement.
KINARI
Here, a turtleneck cut-and-sew top has been layered underneath. With a neckline and armholes that open just the right amount, the look can be completely transformed depending on the top layered beneath.
CHARCOAL・Height 160cm
KINARI
Here it's paired with the ZUTTO original Peruvian Pima Cotton Leggings with Linen Handkerchief. For those up to around 160cm tall, the hem falls somewhere between the knee and just below it, making it easy to move in and pairing well with bottoms of any silhouette.
KINARI・Height 162cm
CHARCOAL
Here, the dress is worn on its own as a single piece with a shirt dress layered over it. Layering it with a longer shirt dress creates a light, airy impression thanks to the difference in hem length. It's also recommended to pair it with a cardigan or jacket.
KINARI
The colors are two easy-to-wear basics: KINARI and CHARCOAL. Since the fabric has a slight sheerness, when worn alone we recommend layering it with an inner top or petticoat that you don't mind showing through. In the hot season, wear it as a main dress with a tank top or similar underneath, and in cooler weather, layer a long-sleeve cut-and-sew top for a layered look—this is a dress you can enjoy across a long stretch of the year.
◆156cm
I'm 156cm, and I often find that when I buy long-length items online, they turn out to be longer than expected due to the height difference with the model. This dress, however, is made slightly shorter for layering purposes, so it wasn't too long at all, and it paired nicely in balance with a skirt underneath. I think those shorter than 156cm can also wear it with confidence.
◆162cm
At first, I thought it might be a bit short worn alone, but once I tried layering it, I found it's a dress that rewards experimentation—letting the color and pattern of the bottoms underneath show through. For those taller than me, wearing it like a tunic, paired with something like Yoryu Stripe Petti Pants, seems like it would work well too. Pairing it with pants is my top recommendation.
