Born in 1898 in Great Yarmouth, England, Yarmo takes its name from an affection for its hometown. For 125 years since its founding, the brand has continued to provide workwear and leisurewear for the local working people.

Yarmo is a British workwear brand. Since its founding in 1898, the brand has walked alongside working people, and this season it releases a special T-shirt. It looks like just a stylish tee, but it's a piece designed to embody the brand's philosophy.
As a collaborative project with stylist Oomori Sayuko, the T-shirt was released in limited quantities under the theme "Working Days, Working People," featuring a design that combines historical and present-day photos of the Yarmouth store with words envisioned by Oomori. The photo printed on the front of the T-shirt is a fairly old photograph of the Yarmouth Stores.
The design captures the very image of the factory that has supported Yarmo over the years. The building printed on it is Yarmo's shop attached to the factory, and it feels as though it gently blurs the line between labor and rest.
With a design that seems to gently dissolve the boundary between "working" and "living," the balance between work and rest somehow feels like a question posed to us today.
The T-shirt comes in four colors, and every color is a basic shade chosen to pair naturally with Yarmo's clothing as well as with pieces you likely already own.

ーTwill fabric: Resistant to wrinkling and durable, also used for uniforms, giving a crisp, put-together look.
ーMoleskin: A fabric that's soft to the touch, sturdy, and warm.
ーWashed finish: Gentle against the skin, offering excellent comfort.
Years of experience making clothing for sailors and dock workers come to life here.
The pants have a silhouette designed for easy leg movement, while outer garments feature deep slits and roomy armholes.
The oversized pockets are practical enough to carry your daily essentials. With the minimum number of buttons for easy on-and-off, the soft-fabric shirts are also handy as a light outer layer.
80% of production takes place in the UK, with thorough quality control.

When you actually hold Yarmo's clothing—garments that truly grow with you—you can see this dedication reflected everywhere.
For instance, the timeless design suits any age, and the relaxed silhouette works regardless of body type. True to a brand that has elevated its work into fashion, a single piece looks complete on its own. It's also worth noting that simply wearing it gives you an effortlessly stylish impression.
And then there's the comfort of wearing it. As a maker skilled in crafting workwear, Yarmo excels at producing quality pieces meant to be loved for years—easy to move in, simple to care for, with many fabrics that need no ironing. The charm that comes through even after repeated washing is, I think, another reason people choose this brand.

【Q3】Please tell us what you find appealing about Yarmo.
I think it's the way it combines the sturdy, no-nonsense quality of workwear with real fashion sense. Beyond functionality and comfort, I feel this brand also carries a genuine sense of style. In my line of work I sometimes appear in front of people, so it's great to be able to just throw on one piece and look put together without having to think about coordinating an outfit. I've even had people ask me, "Where's that from?"—and it's a little thrilling when a piece you love gets complimented.

This time, we introduce YarmoWe interviewed Glastonbury, who introduces Yarmo in Japan, to answer the questions our customers want to know.
【Q1】What kind of people love wearing Yarmo?
Given the brand image and the word "workwear," you might imagine mostly younger people wearing it, but surprisingly, it seems to be most popular among people in their late 30s to over 40. Since Yarmo is a rather niche brand, its main fans are people working in fashion-related jobs, but it's also popular with florists and hairdressers—in fact, some customers have purchased it in the past as a uniform for their hair salon. It also seems well received by mothers who are busy raising children, thanks to the toughness of the workwear and the fact that you can wear it hard without worrying about it.
【Q2】What led you to introduce the Yarmo brand in Japan?
It all started when Glastonbury's representative spotted a YARMO brand Driver's JKT at a clothing shop in London, back when Glastonbury was first founded.
【Q3】Is the area where Yarmo is based known for sewing or textile production?
It's a seaside town called Norfolk on England's east coast, where the main industries are fishing and tourism—textile manufacturing is quite rare there. It's a unique town where historic medieval architecture mixes with modern development, and its most famous local specialty is Yarmouth bloater, a type of smoked herring. In this area, Yarmo has consistently valued durability for fishermen and dockworkers over many years, which has given rise to expertise in sturdy sewing techniques, as well as fabric choices, pocket designs, and fits tailored to the needs of workers. For the Yarmo factory itself, this isn't about fashion—but for us, that's exactly what makes it so appealing.
At thatYarmofactory, about 25 staff members work, mainly on sewing. They're all local people, and some have been there for over 30 years. In a warm, family-like atmosphere, each of them works with a real sense of professionalism. In the past, the factory even produced uniforms for the Ministry of Defence and various companies, and today it continues to make workwear and leisurewear, supplying widely to shops, small businesses, and local people throughout the UK.

The photo above appears to show women playing a card game on their break, but both then and now, the careful sewing work has always been done by local women staff. The photo below is more recent. You can see how many women play an active role, and when clothing is made by people whose faces you can actually see, it changes both how the sewing is done and how the clothes are perceived.

Yarmoclothing, which looks effortlessly stylish, seems to strike a balance between comfort and ease of movement with the wearer in mind, while also encouraging you to be true to yourself. And the more you wear it, the more it fits you—that's "Yarmo," a workwear brand you'll grow to love. That was our introduction to it.
