KISSO's pendant magnifiers come in a compact size with a leather cord, so you can wear them stylishly around your neck.
It's not easy to find a magnifying glass you'll actually want to use when you're struggling to see something clearly. Rather than settling for something purely functional but unfashionable, these let you resolve that inconvenience while wearing beautiful Italian colors.
These pendant magnifiers are made possible by KISSO's delicate eyewear-crafting techniques from Sabae. Here, we've summarized their strengths and the points you might be wondering about.
Currently, ZUTTO offers two shapes.
There's the egg-shaped 【Pendant Loupe】 and the rectangular 【Loupe LS2】. Both come with a leather cord as a pendant type, and the magnification is the same for both. Some patterns are available in both shapes, while others are exclusive to just one.
The egg shape has a playful, charming feel, while the rectangular shape looks crisp and formal enough to fit right in at more formal occasions. Choose whichever suits your taste.
The pendant magnifiers have a magnification of about 2x. This is very convenient for checking train and bus timetables or other small print. The lens power of +4.0D is roughly what's typically recommended for reading glasses for people aged 65 and over, so visibility is excellent.
The lens portion of the pendant magnifier is about 3.5cm in diameter(the rectangular type is 4.9 x 2.2cm). Since the visible area is small, it's not ideal for long periods of reading—in that case, reading glasses, which offer a wider field of view and free up both hands, are more convenient.
However, for the many small moments of everyday life when you need a quick check—like reading a timetable, looking at a menu, or checking a price tag in a shop—a pendant-style magnifier is perfect for responding quickly.
So even those who already own reading glasses should find a pendant magnifier handy. Also, in today's world, where our eyes are often overworked, many people start to notice signs of presbyopia gradually from around their 40s. If you're not quite at the point of needing reading glasses but still occasionally feel inconvenienced, we'd love for you to try one of these.
The leather cord of the pendant magnifier is adjustable. Rather than using a metal clasp, it works by sliding the knots at each end of the cord, so you can change the length without wrestling with a small necklace fastener—a nice touch.
Hold each of the knots on the left and right, then pull the cord to slide it.
A cloth pouch is included so you can remove the magnifier and carry it with you when you're not wearing it, keeping the lens safe from scratches inside your bag. There may be days when you'd normally wear it around your neck, but it doesn't quite match your outfit, so you'd rather carry it along just in case you need it. This storage pouch comes in handy for exactly those moments.
The colorful designs of the pendant magnifier are unmistakably KISSO, but when it comes to wearing it as a pendant, you might wonder how well it pairs with your tops.
We tried some of the popular designs paired with simple tops.
The 【J87】, with its eye-catching vivid red, features a subtle marble pattern rather than a solid red. To let the red stand out, choose tops in muted tones.
The 【184】, with its unusual beige and brown check pattern, was paired with a blouse in a matching color. Since the tones align, it creates a calm, composed impression.
Finally, here's the most versatile color of all. The white 【H60】 has a pearl-like shimmer, with a subtle pattern that's neither quite stripes nor quite marble. It has the flexibility to go with any outfit, yet it's never plain—a testament to KISSO's design sensibility.
KISSO is a brand that has long been loved by ZUTTO customers, known for its accessories made from cellulose acetate. This cellulose acetate is a resin material often used in eyeglass frames, which makes perfect sense given that KISSO is a brand from Sabae, Fukui Prefecture—a region renowned for eyewear production.
The cellulose acetate (a resin derived from cotton) used in KISSO (Kissoo) comes from Mazzucchelli, Italy's top manufacturer. What really stands out is its sense of transparency and vivid coloring. Unlike metal accessories, it doesn't feel cold to the touch, and its gentle texture against the skin also makes it less likely to trigger allergies—a welcome bonus.
Another interesting aspect of KISSO (Kissoo) items is that even with the same resin pattern, each piece is cut from a single sheet, so the pattern that appears on each product differs depending on where it was cut from. Enjoy the chance encounter of discovering patterns you didn't expect!
