Wide pants may have started as a trend, but the current move toward relaxed silhouettes shows no sign of ending. Once people discover the comfort of a loose-fitting silhouette, wide pants seem set to remain a wardrobe staple in the fashion industry going forward.

While wide pants are convenient as a casual item, they can also look wonderful styled in a dressier way. This time, we're introducing the ZUTTO original yarn-dyed moleskin wide tuck pants, created together with our designer.

【Design and material】

Tucks give a clean, streamlined look around the waist

Because of the silhouette, wide pants are often worn at a higher waist position, but depending on the design, this can make the stomach area stand out unflatteringly or look flat. This can make them tricky to style. For these pants, we carefully calculated the placement of the tucks around the hips so they look flattering. The fabric is also sturdy, giving a design that shows off the silhouette of the pants themselves rather than the shape of the body.

With a full-length hem and a double-fold cuff, the classic design emphasizes a vertical silhouette—giving a clean look with a fully realized shape.

An elegant design that also pairs well with leather shoes or short boots.

The brushed-looking texture gives a classic, sophisticated look

For these pants, we used yarn-dyed moleskin fabric. The name "moleskin" comes from "mole" + "skin," so called because its appearance resembles the fur of a mole. Its defining traits are a pleasant texture and durability. Its soft, downy nap traps plenty of air, giving it excellent warmth.

Because the fabric is dyed at the yarn stage, before it's woven, it has a softness that piece-dyed fabric doesn't have, and it feels lovely to the touch. Also, since thick cotton yarns are brushed on both sides and woven densely, the fabric gains strength and resists tearing. Because the surface is brushed, you might think it's suited only for winter, but since the material itself is mostly cotton, it can be worn year-round.

【Comfort was the priority】

An adjuster button lets you fine-tune the waist size.

Wide pants are often worn with the top tucked in for a better balance. If the waist size isn't quite right, it can end up making you look heavier. The thickness of the tucked-in top is also something you may want to adjust for. That's why we made the waist adjustable with a button, and finished the back with a subtle touch of elastic as well.

While this elastic finish is comfortable and free-size friendly, it can also end up looking too casual. Here, the elastic gathers are made to be as unnoticeable as possible, so the size can be adjusted subtly without disrupting the look.

Even if you get the size just right today, your body shape and weight change from day to day. If your size feels roomy now, you might find that come winter, when you're tucking in thicker tops, or after overeating during the year-end and New Year holidays, you can simply adjust the size and be fine.

Adjust them to fit you, and enjoy wearing them in comfort.

Ready for winter—layer leggings underneath to stay warm

One of the great things about wide pants is that in winter, you can easily layer leggings or tights underneath for warmth. Since these pants are made of 98% cotton, they pair nicely with silk-wool leggings, for example.

Height 156cm

Here's how they look on a staff member who is 156cm tall. They're full length, just barely reaching the shoes. Since the hem doesn't drag, they pair well with flat shoes as well as heeled pumps, keeping the balance just right.

Height 162cm

This is a model who is 162cm tall. The hem just barely covers the ankle, giving a well-balanced look. They also pair nicely with lace-up leather shoes or chunky sneakers.

Height 167cm

Here's how it looks on a model who is 167cm tall. Since your ankles peek in and out as you walk, pairing these pants with short boots or side-gore boots creates a well-balanced look.
