The border T-shirt is a timeless classic that never goes out of style. While the impression a border pattern gives can change depending on the stripe width and color combination, if you feel like you've grown a bit tired of the basic versions, we recommend one with just a touch of individuality.

This time, ZUTTO has created a short-sleeved T-shirt using a vintage-like border fabric. The unique texture and thickness of the fabric gives it a distinctive unevenness, resulting in a border T-shirt that's simple yet full of presence.

▶︎ A French antique border

What sets this border knit fabric apart is that it's not made up of simple single lines, but rather a series of fine lines arranged closely together. It recreates a rare border pattern originally made in France in the early 1900s.

In 1900s France, knitting machines had not yet fully developed, so border patterns were reportedly made using rib knitting. To fashionable people of that era, this border might have been a common sight, but today it feels fresh and unusual. The white lines running through the border give it a distinctive character, offering an impression quite different from that of typical border knit sew fabrics.

As a rib knit, it has relatively little stretch and feels sturdy and durable. That said, it stretches more than a typical basque shirt, making it very comfortable to wear. The silhouette is compact rather than overly oversized, but thanks to the fabric's substantial texture, it doesn't cling to the body's lines, allowing for a clean, polished look.

To let you enjoy this French antique border pattern in an even more appealing way, we designed the shirt with raglan sleeves that turn the pattern's placement into a distinctive accent. The way the border flows around the shoulders gives the silhouette a rounded, three-dimensional feel, creating a charming impression while still allowing for casual styling.

This border T-shirt is charming for its rounded shoulder line, but another element that makes an impression is the color used at the neck and sleeves. The RED version uses a stretchy telecom fabric in red, while the BROWN version uses navy, creating a retro, cute atmosphere. We recommend pairing it thoroughly casually with denim, or heading out in a French marine style with a skirt.

The neckline is a moderately snug crew neck that gives a compact impression, while the body width has been given some extra room, allowing for a relaxed fit.
