The packable cardigan has been a hit every time we've offered it, and we've released it in slightly different materials and designs along the way. This time, a new addition has joined the lineup: a packable cardigan made from 100% wool, perfect for autumn and winter wear.

The packable cardigan first appeared in spring and summer in a light, breezy jersey fabric. The Smooth Wool Packable Cardigan keeps everything that made the original so appealing—a simple design that's easy to match with any outfit, plus a packable design that lets you pull it out or tuck it away in an instant when needed—while switching to a fabric suited for autumn and winter.

The design is a basic style with buttons down the front placket. It's a piece that works equally well for everyday wear and office style. The silhouette has a bit of extra room in the sleeves and body, so you can layer it over autumn and winter innerwear or a thin knit with ease.

The biggest highlight is that it's packable. Keep it in your everyday bag, and it comes in handy in all kinds of situations—not just to throw on when you feel a slight chill, but also as a lap blanket when your feet get cold.

Packable items can seem like they require remembering a complicated packing procedure, but with the Smooth Wool Packable Cardigan, there's a pocket on the inside of the left front panel—you simply fold the cardigan and tuck it in. Though it's 100% wool, the fabric is smooth and sleek with little friction, and it also has stretch, so it slides in and out easily.

The fabric chosen is a high-quality merino wool known for its natural stretch, compressed to create a smooth material with just the right amount of body. As the name suggests, this smooth fabric is characterized by its silky texture—even though it's 100% wool, it has very little of that itchy feeling, giving it a soft, appealing hand. It's also stretchy and easy to move in, making it a great companion for relaxed travel time or strolling around town on a trip.

Worn by a staff member who is 163cm tall and usually wears a size M, the length falls to about hip level, and the sleeves reach just to the back of the hand. With extra room in the body and sleeves, it doesn't feel tight even when layered over a thick cut-and-sew top underneath. The staff member who tried it on said the soft texture—free of the itchiness typical of wool—felt wonderful. It looks set to see plenty of wear from autumn through spring.
