The cordless light "SOFT SPOT SOLAR" returns lighter and with playful new colors

A new addition has joined ROSENDAHL's cordless lamp lineup, the Soft Spot Solar: the "Soft Spot Solar Circular," featuring bright, playful colorways. The frame material has also changed from steel to recycled plastic, making it lighter. It's just as suited to outdoor events like camping and barbecues as it is to being kept on hand as a piece of disaster-preparedness equipment, and it's now even easier to use.

Denmark, the country where ROSENDAHL was born, has very long winters, and lighting is an indispensable part of everyday life there. The Soft Spot Solar was born out of thinking about how to spend time comfortably at home during a life with so many hours spent indoors. When lit in a dark room, it creates the sensation of gazing at a glowing ball floating in mid-air—an object-like design. With a form that calls to mind both outer space and Japanese andon (traditional paper lanterns), this is a light that soothes not just through its function, but through the feeling it brings.

Solar charging capability

Charging for 7 to 10 hours in an environment with sufficient sunlight allows for up to 16 hours of use. (Charging time and lighting duration vary depending on the product.) Since it can be used in places without a power source, it's useful not only for outdoor activities but also in times of disaster. Lighting doesn't just relieve the inconvenience of being in the dark—it also plays a role in easing anxiety. When you use disaster-preparedness items for the first time in an emergency, unfamiliarity can leave you feeling flustered, but if you keep on hand something you already use regularly, the whole family can use it with peace of mind. *Since charging requires direct, strong sunlight, outdoor placement is recommended; charging is difficult on cloudy days or through curtains, and if used indoors, a sunny spot is ideal.

What's different from the previous Soft Spot Solar?

This is the Soft Spot Solar that has been sold up until now. It continues to be available for purchase.

1. Difference in frame material

While the Soft Spot Solar is finished with powder-coated steel, the Soft Spot Solar Circular uses recycled plastic. This plastic is a material certified under GRS (Global Recycled Standard)—an international certification system for products made from 50% or more recycled material, which also covers the social and environmental aspects of processing and manufacturing, quality, and legal compliance—a certification ROSENDAHL has spent years researching.

Thanks to this difference in material, the Soft Spot Solar Circular has achieved a dramatic reduction in weight: from 473g to 298g for the H18.5 size, and from about 960g to 456g for the H25 size.

With its improved portability and softer material feel, combined with its playful colorways, it seems likely to work well as a light for a child's room too.

There's also a visible difference in frame thickness. The Soft Spot Solar has a thin frame that gives it a sharp impression, while the Soft Spot Solar Circular gives a gentler impression. The plastic frame also has a textured finish, giving it a calm, matte look.

In addition, an improvement has been made so that, once the lamp reaches the end of its life, all parts can be easily disassembled, sorted, and recycled—making it more environmentally friendly as well.

The Soft Spot Solar Circular uses a USB Type-C connector. The strength of the terminal's insertion port has also been further improved. *A charging cable is not included with the Soft Spot Solar Circular.

There are two sizes: H18.5 (approx. diameter 11.8 x height 18.5 (cm)) and H25 (approx. diameter 14.8 x height 25 (cm)).

The Soft Spot Solar Circular H18.5 is a compact size that won't get in the way even in small spaces like an entryway. It's also handy to keep one by the bedroom doorway as a night-light.

The Soft Spot Solar Circular H25 is a size up. With a presence that stands out as a piece of interior decor, it also casts light over a wider area than the H18.5, making it a great fit for a dining table shared by several people.
