【TRICOTE Special Order Pattern】The story of "STONE," a special custom pattern born from the image of "a shape that lasts forever."

A design of colorful circles in sky blue, orange, and other hues, gathering, overlapping, and rolling together. We asked TRICOTE, a lifestyle brand centered on knit items, to create a custom pattern exclusively for ZUTTO called "STONE."

TRICOTE, which often draws its motifs from nature, and ZUTTO, which introduces items whose charm deepens the longer you use them—this special pattern was born from the overlap of each brand's concept.

Tote Bag, a pouch available in two sizes, and a maternity health record casethat doubles as a multi-purpose case, all made with this pattern.

Weaving the potential of a single thread into textiles.

TRICOTE is a lifestyle brand that imagines an imaginary room and proposes items to add color to everyday life. Its distinctive color combinations, playful design touches, and pop textiles have a way of lifting the spirit.

The brand's founder, Mr. Uotani, originally worked in developing knit fabrics for items such as socks. Through that work, his desire to "incorporate knit fabric more fully into everyday life" grew, leading him to further research knitting techniques and design. Eventually, his wish to develop original creations of his own intensified, and this led to the launch of TRICOTE.

We wanted to work with TRICOTE to create something that ZUTTO customers would love and grow attached to over time. This project began with our idea of proposing a pattern that would carry ZUTTO's own feelings within it.

The custom pattern "STONE" represents something that "keeps connecting, forever."

"I'm so happy to finally be able to introduce this to everyone. Actually, during the process of creating this custom pattern, we were shown other designs besides STONE. We chose this particular pattern because we felt it connected deeply with ZUTTO's concept."

TRICOTE designer, Mr. Uotani:

"As the background for this pattern, the name ZUTTO ('forever' in Japanese) brought to mind the image of a 'circle,' a shape that continues on forever. That could have led us toward a simple dot pattern, but since TRICOTE often draws its motifs from natural phenomena and things found in nature, we chose stones as our design motif."

"Stones come in all kinds of shapes, but we designed rounded forms that echo the image of gradually softening through time in nature—overlapping with the idea of enjoying an item's changes as it ages through long use."

Staff member in charge of the project:

"We at ZUTTO started this store with the wish to 'encounter things we can use with lasting affection' and to 'share the joy of that encounter.' The enduring meaning and sense of security that a circle's shape carries resonates deeply with this philosophy, which is why we moved forward with this pattern."

A shape whose edges gradually soften and settle into place over a long span of time. And the "circle"—a form that circulates, with neither beginning nor end, connecting on forever. The shippou pattern, a traditional Japanese auspicious motif, is also made of continuing circles, symbolizing bonds ("go-en") that last without end. Carrying so many layers of meaning, this has become a truly special pattern for ZUTTO.

By knitting vibrant polyester thread together with a special clear thread, the fabric gains strength, structure, and a lustrous sheen, resulting in a knit fabric that's sturdy yet lightweight. That light, easy-to-use quality is one of the best things about this knit tote bag.

Open the bag and you'll find a large interior pocket with the logo on it. This is also made of a special knit fabric, and it's thoughtfully designed with pocket parts attached so your belongings won't spill out.

A maternal and child health handbook case that fits an A6-size handbook. With plenty of pockets to store various items easily, it can also be used conveniently for purposes beyond just holding the handbook.

For example, adults can use it as a pouch for hospital visits, or take it along as a passport case when traveling. You can also use it to store a cash card and bankbook, or to carry all your writing tools together—notebook, pens, sticky notes, and glue.
