Miyamoto Kogei has been handcrafting yamabudo (wild grape vine) baskets one by one, entirely by hand, since its founding. We visited the workshop to hear the story behind these baskets, so cherished for their beauty and durability.
This time, we're visiting Miyamoto Kogei, located in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture. Wanting to learn more about the secrets behind their yamabudo (wild grape vine) baskets, which they began taking custom orders for a few years ago, we arranged to visit their workshop for this feature.
