Visiting a kiji (wooden base) workshop in Fukui Prefecture, a region known for urushi (Japanese lacquer) ware — behind the scenes of making ZUTTO's original jubako (tiered boxes).
ZUTTO's rectangular two-tiered jubako (stacking box) has been very well received since it went on sale. This installment of our journal is a special edition: a report from our visit to Inoue Toku Mokkou, the woodworking studio we commissioned to make these jubako. Our staff traveled to the workshop in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, and had the valuable experience of witnessing the craftsmanship up close.
